- Description:
- The Provincial Institute for Education and Training of the province of Flemish Brabant, located in Asse, offers training for police, emergency medical care, (semi-)public authorities and fire brigades. The site is equipped with fire plates on which firefighting exercises for fire brigade training are held. Since 2011, PFAS-containing extinguishing agents have no longer been used for fire-fighting exercises. Fire extinguishing water and rainwater from the fire plates is (still) contaminated with PFAS compounds, probably due to historical contamination in the pipes and fire plates. In the most recent environmental permit (19 December 2023) for the PIVO Asse site, a special condition was imposed with regard to the removal of PFAS compounds from the wastewater from the fire plates below the reporting limit value1. The existing water treatment plant must be adapted for this purpose. This note contains the mechanical engineering specifications of these adjustments to the current water treatment plant with the necessary information and requirements for drawing up a quotation for the water treatment.
