- Transport packaging for highly radioactive materials (HLLW RECUMO, vitrified container RECUMO, HAVA/MAVA) SCK CEN intends to purchase transport packaging for highly radioactive materials and waste. These packaging will be used both for transfers between buildings on the SCK CEN site and for transport on public roads. The contents to be transported include solid and liquid materials. Solid and liquid forms will not be mixed in the same content; they will be the subject of separate content. The contents require type B packaging in accordance with IAEA recommendations for transport on public roads. Specific rules apply to transport within the SCK CEN site (these rules will be attached to the specifications during the second phase). The contents will be described in detail in the technical purchasing specifications, as will the different buildings in which the packaging will be handled, loaded and discharged. No fissile content, within the meaning of the IAEA definition, is planned within the scope of this market. The contents are divided into several categories: • Highly radioactive acidic liquids, with packaging volume of approximately 1 m³ • Vitrified containers requiring approximately 6 cm of lead shielding, with packaging having a cavity approximately 45 cm in diameter and 140 cm in height • Conditioned highly radioactive waste...
