From 2027, the new emissions trading system, ETS2, comes into force for the buildings, road transport and small industries sectors which are not covered by ETS1. This will lead to an increase in their price which will better reflect their environmental impact. The ETS2 system will also generate resources for Member States to use to support citizens and businesses in the climate transition. Clear and timely communication is essential to prepare households and businesses for ETS2. In this regard, it is appropriate to communicate both the impact of ETS2 on prices, as well as the available alternatives and the broader context of the climate transition. The objective of this market is to have the necessary data to analyze the impact of ETS2 on companies in a number of sectors and to place this in a broader context of the climate transition by also looking at the alternatives durables disponibles.
