Wild boar have been on the rise in Flanders for several years. In recent years we have received more soft winters due to climate change, so that more piglets survived the winter months. In addition, there was a high food supply of seeds and fruits of trees and plants, and the high -productive agricultural sector also provides the wild boar with sufficient food. But also near human habitation, wild boar are attracted to remaining food residues. When the food supply is high and the natural mortality low, the number of wild boar increases considerably every year. The wild boar is an important asset in our nature, but unfortunately also brings unpleasant situations. The ever -growing number of wild boar causes considerable damage to gardens, agricultural areas, vulnerable nature. They are also a danger to road traffic. Since they can even pose physical danger to humans and animals in specific circumstances, they often cause the necessary fear.
