- The object of the assignment is to identify the specific demand for and infrastructure for alternative fuels and energy carriers for Flemish inland shipping. How this question evolves is still uncertain, so a number of scenarios are worked out and parameters/variables are selected that express the demand for alternatives. Both the current and future demand for alternative fuels energy carriers are simulated over time from 2025 to 2050. Based on the demand analysis, the simulation model also maps the required tank, and/or bunker infrastructure and specific bunker locations, depending on it Scenario - will be necessary to supply inland vessels in Flanders with renewable energy carriers.
