Description:
The purpose of this lot is to explore barriers to consolidation of trading and post-trading infrastructure and potential ways to address those barriers identified. The assessment of the barriers should take into account vertical, horizontal and other types of consolidation among trading and post-trading infrastructure as well as explore the role that technology could play in removing those barriers. The assessment should also identify and characterise the synergies and operational cost reductions resulting from past consolidation. In the area of trading, the study should take due account of recent EU initiatives to foster consolidation of market data through the development of a consolidated tape. It should also assess the use and impact of existing mechanisms intended to facilitate admission to trading on multiple venues on access to securities by investors, notably across borders, and on access to capital by issuers. Evidence will need to be collected inter alia through conducting interviews with operators of trading and post-trading infrastructures.
