- The capacity increase of the E403/A17 is included in the Flemish Coalition Agreement 2024-2029. Already in 2018 a memorandum from the Flemish Traffic Center confirmed the structural congestion problems on the A17 Roeselare-Brugge. There is currently a study assignment for the preparation of a road safety effects assessment (VVEB) and Social cost -benefit analysis (SMEs) where three alternatives are weighed in relation to each other: - the zero alternative - the alternative pointed lane - The alternative full third lane According to the current planning, the Flemish government will be one in the spring of 2026 one Make a decision about which alternative should be further elaborated towards tender file. The current study assignment (Evolta/TML/Common Ground) includes the full design assignment for the Chartreuse - Wisselaar E40/E403 road section. For the rest of the route (Wisselaar E40/E403 - Complex 7 Roeselare-Haven) will be used for a new contract. This assignment must contain the entire design of the road sections between the E40/E403 and complex 7 traffic change. The draft will be based on the alternative that the Flemish Government will definitively in the spring of 2026 and is not yet known on today.
