- The propulsion weir on the Kleine Nete managed at VMM at the Spanish Court in Herentals is defective and cannot be repaired without major costs. A more sustainable solution is therefore used in which the decline over the weir is taken care of by the construction of new meanders between the Lower Rij and the Cardijnlaan to finally suppress the weir after the realization of these meanders. The assignment includes designing research to fit into a park zone taking into account the current use, including partly play zone, the presence of kayak rental companies and nature objectives. For the client, it is of great importance that the perception of water is being used, taking into account the necessary points of attention on safety, so that the works also form an added value for the local residents. The chosen design based on this design research must then be finalized, including the necessary studies (MHO-bottom research, stability calculations, etc.) and the preparation of permit and tender file.
