Renovation Home Fabiola The object of the assignment concerns the renovation of Home Fabiola, adapting the environmental layout, building a new waste shed and renovating the existing caretaker's house into a surveillance center. Home Fabiola is a student home on Campus Overpoort and today has 224 rooms. The building was constructed around 1960-1961 as the first student home of Ghent University. The building was never thoroughly renovated (with the exception of certain parts of the facades). The building is being renovated due to structural degradation, programmatic reasons and shortcomings in terms of techniques and energy performance. Home Fabiola is a mid-rise building with a gross floor area of approximately 7,800 m2 During the entire duration of the works the building uninhabited.
