Description:
Project 20.484B/2 - Schaffen, Collector Schaffen Phase 2 - GOG Veldbeek. The works include the creation of a controlled flood area (GOG) on the Veldbeek (B3066) between Berkstraat and Waterstraat in Schaffen (Diest). The existing course of Veldbeek is partly being relocated. Upstream, part of the current course will be filled in and the bed will be shifted to create a meander. An overflow construction is provided at the outlet of the GOG with a squeeze with adjustable slide around it to adjust the flow rate. At the level of the overflow construction, the banks and the bottom of the watercourse are reinforced. A dike will be constructed between the Veldbeek and the Berkstraat and Waterstraat to retain the water in the area and to protect the roadway and to protect surrounding plots during peak discharges when the buffer capacity of the GOG is activated. In addition to this dike, the existing drainage ditch along the Waterstraat will be extended along the Berkstraat in order to drain the surface water. evacuate and connect to the Veldbeek. New barriers are being placed next to the dike. The existing pipe of the Veldbeek will be replaced by the construction of new tubes in the roadway with 2 wells and 2 end walls. This is also where the roadway becomes redesigned. The works include: • Breaking up existing sewerage; • Breaking up existing pavements; • Earthmoving according to current legislation (Vlarebo); • Excavating new watercourse bed; • Filling old waterbed...
