- Design Museum Gent, the largest design museum in Belgium, reopens on October 3, 2026 and that is accompanied by an opening festival, a folk festival through/ with/ from/ for everyone. This festival runs from October 2, 2026 TEM. October 11, 2026 and not only marks the reopening of the renovated building And the new sustainable wing thing, but also symbolizes the vision of the museum to make design accessible to all people. A subsidy of 1,750,000 euros was acquired through Eventflanders for the reopening festival. To steer this in the right direction, the Design Museum is looking for one External partner, who can fulfill this under the supervision of the team of the Design Museum. After all, the opening festival exceeds the regular functioning of the museum, which means that the team must be supported in this. The first weekend (2, 3 and 4 October 2026) we have a spectacular folk festival In and around the museum, the temporary exhibitions and the new collection presentation open, Start Design Fest Gent 2026 and we celebrate our new thing wing in festive and officially! Even after the first opening weekend, the opening festival actively builds on a new relationship between the Museum and society.
