- Sint-Martens-Latem wants to be an attractive municipality for young families. The multi-year plan 2026-2031 includes the ambition to continue working on good before- and after-school childcare within the BOA decree. In collaboration with a external partner, the ambition is to organize a high-quality range of before- and after-school childcare on the site of all schools that wish to participate. In January 2026, a final amendment decision to the decree on the organization of after-school care and coordination between extra-curricular activities. This decree places the management role of out-of-school childcare in the hands of local authorities. The local government of Sint-Martens-Latem wants to take advantage of this turning point to structurally anchor out-of-school childcare. Object of these services: Organization of before- and after-school childcare in participating local primary schools of municipal and private education.
