Key functional requirements
The VRT is looking for a multi-channel playout solution that can be used for 3 use cases: playout for a premium channel (3 channels ), playoutfor a live radio channel (10 channels), and playout for an event channel (maximum 20 channels). The premium channel use case is mandatory. The two other use cases need to be financially differentiated: the size can change depending on the costs. The VRT will during the negotiationsphase to decide whether the two other use cases are financially feasible and therefore reserves the right to decide whether they will be ordered in this part.
Within this framework, the VRT is looking for a system for disaster recovery for the use case of premium channel, and to astaging system with which all use cases can be tested.
The different use cases and systems required for the specification are described below.
Playout for the premium channel
The VRT currently broadcasts three linear channels via a traditional automation system and a transmissiechain. These channels are VRT 1, VRT Canvas and Ketnet. VRT 1 is the main channel of the VRT, VRT Canvas focuses on culture and Ketnet is a channel for children. The VRT also has an offline TX chain or spare channel, which operators can use, among other things, for testing.
