- Description:
- IVVO operates a fermentation-composting plant in Ypres for the processing of organic waste and similar organic waste flows. In the process, the waste is fermented via a wet fermentation. Biogas is formed which is converted into electricity. Two biogas engines (brand MWM) are currently being used for this purpose, with an electrical power of 600 kW and 800 kW respectively. These are arranged in cascade in relation to the biogas production. The hot water formed by the engines passes over a heat recovery system consisting of a number of heat exchangers so that the heat can be used for heating the reactors, building heating and the evaporation of the waste water. The electricity generated is partly used for own purposes services and partly injected into the grid. The engine with a capacity of 800 kW must receive 64,000 hours of maintenance according to the maintenance schedule (overhaul maintenance).
