Description:
The aim of this assignment consists of implementing ecohydrological recovery measures within the "Grootbroek" nature reserve of the Agency for Nature and Forest (ANB). This nature reserve is originally a transferor axis of the Beek and is part of the Kempen-Broek Grenspark, located in the east of Flanders in the municipalities of Kinrooi and Bree in the province of Limburg. This assignment concerns the repair of the project area to a more natural state, whereby the drying problem is prevented. This is achieved by preventing the accelerated drainage of water from the area. The draining effect of the sometimes deeply incised canal systems is canceled here. The main interventions therefore consist of damping canals and the flattening of the present rabat systems. In addition, higher management paths and a local bank wall are leveled so that the dyke operation is canceled and the area experiences greater interconnection.
