Description:
In 2025, ZAS had a prototype based on an AI algorithm developed, a Clinical Documentation Improvement tool (CDI), which is able to distill diagnoses from EPD-generated letters, analyze them for relevance within the context and convert them to Snomed codes, then compare it with the patient's existing EPD problem list and, if there is none, ask the doctor involved whether these diagnoses can be added to the problem list and then automatically add them to the EPD problem list if the answer is positive. The prototype was developed and trained for 6 medical disciplines of ZAS and integrated into Hix, the EPD of ZAS, via FHIR interfaces. Doctors from these disciplines have used and validated the prototype. The prototype is very promising and ZAS now wants to develop a production-worthy version based on an innovative partnership the experiences with the prototype, rolling it out to all medical disciplines (30) within ZAS (and possibly other hospitals) as well as further development according to ZAS's vision regarding structured problem list in the EPD.
