• Description:
• The Research Animal Facility (RAF) is a newly established, multifunctional laboratory animal facility, which aims to bundle all laboratory animal facilities of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FDI). The facility provides space and infrastructure for fundamental and applied veterinary and biomedical in vivo research within a framework that guarantees animal welfare, biosafety and scientific quality. The facility provides both - essentially - units suitable for infection experiments under containment level A2 and in units suitable for activities without contained use. The RAF offers accommodation for and the opportunity to conduct (infection) studies in various types of laboratory animals (including birds, pigs, (small) ruminants, alpacas, horses, rodents, ferrets, rabbits, reptiles, amphibians, fish, crustaceans, etc.). The facility will be regarded as a 'core facility' and will therefore also be made available for use by researchers outside Ghent University.
