- In concrete terms, the assignment consists of removing sources of infection from fire blight in the landscape, private gardens or public domain upon request by the local authorities: • Removing a source of infection in accordance with the applicable guidelines and in accordance with the advice from the provincial fire blight hotline or enforcement officer of the local government (this can vary from heavy maintenance pruning, complete cordoning off to the ground or felling of the affected plants) • Collecting the infected material and ensure its incineration (permission required from the local government) • If collecting and burning the material on site is not possible, remove it to a suitable place taking into account the necessary precautions, or transport to a suitable incineration plant • Notify the police and fire brigade when incineration starts. Since this disease mainly manifests itself there due to the concentration of professional fruit cultivation in the south of Limburg, the implementation of this assignment mainly takes place in South Limburg.
