Description:
The 'external process guidance' assignment is situated within the 'Gent Canal Zone Project'. This concerns substantive support from the Ghent Canal Zone Project Office, which coordinates the project. The main objective of the Ghent Canal Zone Project is to further strengthen the economic development of the seaport area, with attention to the quality of life of the canal villages and the existing nature and agriculture. This area-oriented, integrated project is a partnership between the Province of East Flanders, the City of Ghent, the municipality of Evergem, the municipality of Zelzate, North Sea Port and the Flemish Region. The Ghent Canal Zone project is located within the cross-border port North Sea Port, a Flemish-Dutch economic growth region in the heart of the EU with a strong seaport, an important industrial cluster and a metropolitan and highly educated hinterland with unique nature. The Ghent Canal Zone will also experience very strong dynamics in the coming years, both in further strategic and planning vision development, as well as in concrete projects on the ground. There are tasks related to mobility, logistics & transport, nature, environmental quality and... livability. The canal zone is also in full transformation in terms of climate transition, renewable energy and circular economy.
