Description:
The Turnhout municipal spatial structure plan was approved in 2008. Although the spatial principles and vision from this structure plan are still relevant, a revision of our vision on space is necessary. This revision serves to address the current social and climatic challengeand integrate and tackle the further growth and development of the city in a sustainable and smart way. The Turnhout spatial policy plan (BRT) will be a new framework that will guide the spatial development of the city for the coming years.
In a strategic vision, the desired space is createdlong-term development. The role of the city in the (border) region, the functioning of the urban area and the city itself, with the mutual relationships between sub-areas and functions, can be linked to demographic, economic, social, ecological, etc.ical, climate and mobility developments. The existing situation and its history are starting points for the vision.
For 3 themes to be determined, this vision will then be translated into policy frameworks in which the spatial choices for the medium term are specified in more concrete terms. HeyThe spatial policy plan is a growing policy plan. Policy frameworks must be easy to add or adjust at a later stage. It is very important for the city of Turnhout that the policy frameworks are concrete and achievable.
