- Port of Antwerp-Bruges offers various services for inland shipping in the port area of Antwerp. Drinking water is provided via various fixed drinking water installations and via water boats. Currently, 3 water boats are being built through a government contract used for the supply of drinking water to inland shipping. Deliveries take place on working days between 8 am and 5 pm. In 2025, 5,104 deliveries were made for a total consumption of 37,083.77m³. Port of Antwerp-Bruges has a drinking water supply agreement with water company Water-Link in which certain quality requirements are laid down. The drinking water is loaded by the water boats at two high-flow loading stations in the port area. The loading stations are managed by Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The water boats further distribute the drinking water to inland shipping. The deliveries are registered in a Port of Antwerp-Bruges portal. Port of Antwerp-Bruges takes care of the billing for consumption based on these registrations invoicing the customer. Port of Antwerp-Bruges determines the drinking water price per m³ in accordance with the price set by Water-Link. This amounted to 4.13 euros/m³ excl. VAT in 2025 and amounts to 4.15 euros/m³ excl. VAT for 2026. The customer only pays for the effective consumption of drinking water. No transaction or other costs will be charged or passed on to the customer for the use of the water boats.
