- Ultrasonic-assisted machining (UAM) is required for optically processing surfaces in steel and some types of glass on the 5-axis ultra-precision diamond milling machine from B-PHOT. Being able to process these materials is necessary to take the next step towards the development of a pilot line for secondary educationor glass optics. The UAM process causes the diamond cutter to oscillate at a high frequency to keep the contact of the diamond with the material very short. This ensures that no chemical bond can form between the diamond and the material, so that the diamond retains its sharpnessages and the material can be optically processed. This tender includes the purchase of a UAM and accessories.
