Description:
In 2018, the Master Plan Station Environment was validated by the city of Dendermonde, NMBS, De Lijn, Province of East Flanders and the Flemish urban renewal fund. One of the ambitions within the Master Plan is to develop a compact and performance -functioning regional mobility junction i.f.v. Strengthening the modal shift. An important objective here is the improved access to the station environment for the cyclist. Due to the construction of the bicycle highways F44 Gent-Mechelen, F43 Aalst-Sint-Niklaas, F19 Dendermonde-Boom, F221 Dendermonde-Asse and F413 Lokeren-Dendermonde- All overlooked at Dendermonde station - this can be achieved. The intended bicycle highway/pedestrian tunnel through the ground body of the approach of the N47 Sint-Gillislaan is part of each of these five bicycle highway routes. In addition, the bicycle highway creates Pedestrian tunnel also a pedestrian link from the station, under the Sint-Gillislaan, to the Kalendijk area. This creates a high-quality and safe slow traffic link from the station to the nearby regional functions AZ Sint-Blasius, Huis van het Kind and the Federal politie.
