Description:
The assignment concerns the delivery, implementation and maintenance of a Laboratory Information System (LIMS) for the DNA Laboratory of Forensic Medicine of UZ Leuven. This system will contribute to efficient processing, analysis and reporting of the expert research of biological tracesand from DNA kinship investigations.
The Laboratory for Forensic Genetics of UZ Leuven is responsible for:
• The analysis of forensic biological evidence commissioned by the judiciary, with a view to the investigation of human cell material and the possible identification of the donorBy DNA analysis and comparison with reference languages (victim, suspect, DNA profiles determined by other laboratories or from the national DNA databases).
• Send to the national databases of DNA profiles of biological evidence, suspects, convicted persons and missingPersons (personal assets or biologically related persons)
• DNA kinship investigation (both on behalf of the judiciary, on the private request and/or for the Flemish descent center)
• Y chromosome analyzes (eg sexual aggression, or large-scale related studies in eg Cold.Cases)
Currently we work with various (partly self-developed) front-end MS Access databases and customized programs with back-end SQL Server. This data must be migrated (as much as possible) to the new software.
