Description:
The concessionaire is responsible for the collection via textile containers and the processing of household textile waste in the municipality of Grimbergen. The collection takes place via textile containers at various locations in the public domain and, if necessary, private land that is publicly accessible. Door-to-door collection is not part of this concession order. The concession holder pays a concession fee per ton of textile waste and receives in return for the services provided collection and processing of these textiles, the right to dispose of the collected textiles. The concessionaire is responsible for the collection and processing of the textiles at his own expense, including the non-reused and/or non-recycled portion. The The concession holder must also be responsible for clearing up illegal dumping next to these textile containers. The annual volume of textile waste can be estimated based on the number of inhabitants of the municipality of Grimbergen (40,000 inhabitants). According to the statistics from OVAM, approximately 10 kg of textile waste is selectively collected per citizen per year. In 2024, 384 tons of textiles were collected in the municipality of Grimbergen, which is in line with the OVAM averages.
