Description:
The assignment involves the replacement of the existing 'De Pater Sangersbrug' in Maaseik with a new bridge. This bridge connects Maaseik (B) and Echt-Susteren (Nl) over the Common Maas. The current bridge is outdated and was classified in category 4 based on recently conducted inspections. which means 'to be addressed urgently'. In view of this, Vlaamse Waterweg nv has started a design process for the construction of a new bridge. The construction of the new bridge was used to optimize the functional relationships, but also the recreational, cycling and pedestrian facilities on the bridge. An implementation design has now been drawn up in consultation with the most important stakeholders. This design meets the most important functional requirements.
