In the following decades we are heading for a significant warming up of the average annual temperature, with an associated increase in weather extremes. Climate change is much faster than forests can adjust itself. One of the measures to make forests more resilient against Climate change is to increase the number of tree species. We do this by planting "Kloempen" in existing forests - a Kloemp is a group of 25 plants of the same tree species that are planted close together. The most vital tree wins the competition and grows later, if appropriate Management, out for a healthy adult "future tree". - By planting those clamping pen in existing forests, "under the screen" of the Kronendak of the old forest, the plants grow up against extreme heat. - By planting, we accelerate the increase in tree species diversity without first having to perform large -scale hairdressings. We only choose indigenous tree species with a good, digestive leaf litter in those clamping pen. Since the wildlife stand in the Flemish forests is on average very high, the cloem pen against vraat from mainly deer must be protected. We do this with wooden grids (so -called "veblocks") to avoid the use of plastic in forests. Because most sandy soils are acidified in Flanders, we still add substances in the plant pit to offer the plants better growing conditions.
