- Woon Schakel Berg en Nete is a social housing company that is responsible for the management, maintenance and development of affordable housing within its operating area (Heist-op-den-Berg, Berlaar, Nijlen, Booischot). Realized annually Woon Schakel Berg en Nete has several new construction projects, with the aim of expanding the range of high-quality and energy-efficient homes. In addition, the organization plays an active role in the renovation and sustainability of the existing heritage particularly in view of the climate objectives towards 2050. This means that a significant part of the older housing stock is systematically tackled and modernized. These renovation works include: roof renovations and improvements insulation, installation of solar panels (PV installations), replacement of exterior carpentry (windows and doors), and other energy saving interventions. Characteristic of these projects is that they are carried out in an occupied condition. This means that the tenants remain in their home during the works, which means that Woon Schakel Berg en Nete must pay extra attention to: the safety of the residents, limiting nuisance, clear communication and planning, and ensuring the continuity of basic facilities.
